Georgia Student Growth Model Report Coming Soon

Within the next few weeks, Carroll County School will be sending home the new Georgia Student Growth Model (GSGM) Reports provided by the Georgia Department of Education. These reports provide parents with Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs). SGPs describe how much academic progress a student made relative to academically-similar students (other students across Georgia with the same achievement history) from one state assessment to the next. Parents will have an opportunity to compare how much academic growth their child demonstrated relative to other students who started in the same place.

Here are a few important things to remember about the report:

·         This report reflects a student’s academic progress as compared to academically similar peers

·         The report is based the 2012-2013 school year, not the current school year

·         Only students with two years of assessment data will receive reports

·         The report contains instructions on interpreting the information and answers many FAQs.

There are several resources available to assist parents with understanding these new reports. On  are sample CRCT and EOCT student growth reports and a video to assist parents with interpreting these reports. Additional resources, such as an animated introduction to SGPs, will be available in the coming weeks.

This information is new and may take some time to understand. Parents are encouraged to read their child’s report carefully since it provides answers to many questions and instructions in interpreting the information.

Parents who have questions regarding the reports should contact their child’s school.

Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
