Mt. Zion Elementary's Fine Arts Festival
Mt. Zion Elementary School enjoyed its first annual Fine Arts Festival on Thursday. The arts program hosted five artists with varied styles and careers in the arts. The artists that presented were all from the Carrollton community. Cameron Covert, retired from the University of West Georgia, spoke to the children about ceramics and demonstrated throwing on the pottery wheel. Jesse Duke, art illustrator, sculptor, and painter showed various pieces of his art and how it has been his lifelong passion to be an artist. Our art teacher, Andrea Stone, was awarded a grant for the 2013-2014 school year which paid for these demonstrations. The purpose was to show children that the arts can have a permanent impact on our lives and in the workplace.
