During regular meetings, members dive deeper into these topics while preparing to showcase their knowledge and skills in exciting local and district-level competitions against other schools.

fELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES Sponsor: Kerri Moore Contact: kerri.moore@carrollcountyschools.com Meeting: last Monday of each month 2:30-3:30 Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a community looking to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. We seek to make disciples through our strategy of engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.
house leadership Sponsor: Nina Boyd Contact: nina.boyd@carrollcountyschools.com Meeting: As needed throughout the year for various events It is a prestigious honor to be a part of the House Leaders. The club is offered to 24 students school wide for grades 4th-5th grade. Students are invited into this club based on their exceptional academic standing and their exceptional SOARS behavior. Some of their duties include leading the Pledge and Moment of Silence during School-wide assemblies, helping with visitors during special events, and a daily, morning hall duty. Below is a list of standards and requirements that students must meet and maintain in order to be a part of this club. 1. Students must maintain exceptional academic standing (All As & Bs on midterm and 9 weeks report card). 2. House Leaders and House Assistant Leaders are routinely pulled from classes to cover a variety of roles and responsibilities; therefore, students must be able to sustain their class work and make up any missed work on their own time. 3. Arrival time is 7:00 due to morning duties (House members monitor the hallway and have breakfast duty). 4. No office referrals. If an office referral does occur, your child will be removed from the House Leadership and will not be reconsidered for a position later on in the year. 5. To remain in the House Leadership, the students may not have an attendance issue. If your child has more than three absences in a nine weeks period, they will go on probation. If the issue is not resolved and there are three more absences, your child will be removed from the House Leadership and will not be reconsidered for a position. 6. If your child is removed from the House Leadershipdue to academics, once the issue is resolved, the child will then be reconsidered for the Leadership at a later date. This does not guarantee that your child will be placed back in the House Leadership. They must go back through the nominating process again. 7. If your child is removed or goes on probation more than two times during the school year due to attendance or academics, they will be permanently removed and will not be reconsidered for a position later on in the year.
junior beta club Sponsor: Kristen Herringdine Contact: kristen.herringdine@carrollcountyschools.com Meeting: As needed throughout the year The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills. Students in the 4th and 5th grade students who have earned all A’s and B’s and demonstrate appropriate behavior in all classes, may qualify for a Junior Beta membership. *Beta Club invitations will be distributed after the 1st 9 weeks report cards.
science olympiad Sponsor: Allison Huddleston Contact: allison.huddleston@carrollcountyschools.com Meeting: Tuesday from 2:30-3:30 Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades with a love of science are recommended to join our Science Olympiad team. Science Olympiad students learn about many areas of science through engaging learning opportunities. They engineer, experiment, research, and practice using the scientific method in order to prepare for the Regional Science Olympiad Competition. At the elementary level, we are allowed up to 20 members and students may compete in multiple events.
tomes Sponsor: Kristen Herringdine Contact: kristen.herringdine@carrollcountyschools.com Meeting: M-F during Powertime 7:45-8:15 The Tomes Club is a part of the TOME Student Literacy Society. Students have the opprotunity to read books from the TOMES Award book list, participate in ReadBowl Competitions, and attended TomeCon in March. Students will also be asked to participate in various literacy events and community service. *TOMES is by invitation only.
